[Cà Mau, 5/10/25]

Whatever your circumstances, there are so many ways to flush away your few moments on this earth. Consider all those thousands of hours you’ve spent watching TV commercials, playing video or board games, or listening to the same songs by Bruce, Bob, Miley, John or Justin. You’ve paid close attention to ten thousand Braves, Phillies, Yankees or Mud Hens games.

Yesterday, I told one of my regular motorbike drivers to take me home, so I could pick up my backpack, then on we went to the bus station.

“If there’s a bus to Mỹ Tho, I’ll take it. Rạch Giá, Cà Mau, Gò Công or Phan Thiết would be fine, too. I’d go to Huế, but that would take over a day. I wouldn’t mind it if I could sit and look out the window, but on a trip that long, there are only sleeping berths.”
