[Amman, 7/12/25]

Arriving late to A Moment is Enough, I find three customers, each sitting alone to smoke shisha while staring at a screen. A woman next to my usual table wears an orange, yellow, black and white nylon jacket with “DUMP HIM” on the back. Above it is either “Hot Resistance” or “Not Resistance.” Unless I get up to loom over her back, I won’t find out. Her way too black hair must be dyed. Petite, she can’t weight over a hundred. Blueish smoke shrouds her pale face episodically as her right thumb stays busy.

Notice how naturally I wrote “usual table.” Of course, everyone in Amman knows me by now. If King Abdullah II has an unmarried daughter, I’m available, but first, he must send me her latest, most realistic photos. I ain’t gonna put up with no AI shit.

The atomweight beauty has just turned, so everything is clear. It’s actually No Resistance. How appropriate is that?

Even the tiniest decision has lifelong repercussions. Mistakes are rarely identified, much less corrected. Doubling down on our unique idiocy, missteps and perversions, we end up fucking up just about everything, but as long as there’s still some bleached flour bread, jivey protein, sugary drinks and porn within reach, let’s just call it a life. You don’t know what I’ve been through, man, so don’t judge! No Resistance is tattooed on how many backs?
