Thank you for the heads up on your latest book. I can order it at my local independent bookstore.
At the risk of being tediously redundant, I had a rewarding, engaging time in the Philippines. The people (with one isolated exception out of thousands) were warm and welcoming. I even made a new young friend who I hope will eventually visit me in the U.S. My problem is I'm prone to home sickness to a country that rejected or discarded me years ago. Having said that I thank God for FDR, Harry Hopkins and Francis Perkins. Their Social Security is my life line now. With out them I'd be dead
It's entirely possible you will start missing Dumaguete, so must return for another try! In Southeast Asia, Malaysia and Laos are less cluttered and chaotic, but Malaysia isn't cheap. Vietnamese cities are mostly crazy, but not Vung Tau. Bangkok is lively but orderly enough. There are options in this part of the world. Visa laws can be a headache, though.
I just got a call from a friendly Philippina lady offering to extend my Visa. I may be incorrect but my thinking was old American men like me bring their Social Security pension into the country so they are a welcome asset.
I wouldn't be completely surprised to see myself back in the same little cafe overlooking the Pacific drinking the local Red Horse beer. And talking to my friend Menche.
Hi everyone,
Here's the link to the paperback version:

May your friend Menche be a "mensch"!
Home sickness will be overcome by love.
for us in the sixties America was the place that had everything this is no longer the case
Sounds intriguing. Will there ever be a print edition? I don't like Kindle!
Hi Peggy,
