It's not far behind in Australia. We've always followed the USA by a few years gap. In some things, particularly government overreach we're even leading the pack in our downward spiral. I've been committed to getting out of here once and for all as soon as I can manage. Having fallen into a deeper hole financially than would allow me to do so as anything but a refugee there'll be a delay but I'm leaving. As soon as I settle on a destination I'll look at learning the language if necessary. I already lived abroad for a number of years and know how much difference the language makes. If it seemed possible to fix what we have here, I'd stick around to try but there's no chance I can see.

On the topic of leaving the US and the attractions of Latin America, I gave a repeat speech yesterday on why I left 15 years ago. Both funny and tragic. This video is of a previous presentation of the same speech.
