The Mail Online runs Holocaust atrocity stories so often that I sometimes search it to see if there is one. The stories will often include details that were discredited a long time ago, and if a dissenting opinion gets past the moderators, it is quickly mass reported. A lot of comments shore up the familiar narrative, though. Mostly undead Boomers or hasbara, probably. There is nothing organic about any of it, and in zombie fashion these stories continue to run while war rages in Gaza.
I'm not good at chemistry. Anonymous gives a good breakdown of the process for weaponizing Zyklon B. But I'm still a little confused about what I thought were the 3 states of matter the poison had to go thru before it could be effectively delivered. Here's my understanding. First it's stored as crystals in tins. These are then supposedly dropped from holes in the roofs. The crystals enter long pipes near the end of which is some heating device which warms it into liquid first and then boils into a gas (at a relatively low temperature) which itself needs blowers to disperse among the victims.
I know claims about showers dispensing Zyklon B have been dropped but don't understand why that method wouldn't work.
Sorry, Billy, I've never taken a chemistry class and would probably get a failing grade.
Anyway I've uploaded an older issue of THE BARNES REVIEW (will keep it available for one week) where the there's an article about the Holocaust (page 20). While the author doesn't mention Zyklon B it's still a great reference.

and yes, you are right about American gloating. in Vicksburg, my home, where five of my folks fought the Lincolnites, I was giving directions to a couple of northern tourists. retired auto workers from Toledo. no, none of their people were at Vicksburg or even america. favorite general? Sherman. “He knew how to win a war.” oh? “by going after infrastructure,” meaning women and kids.
In Knoxville in 2012, I actually asked people about their missing accent. I heard more Southern speech in Northern Virginia 30 years earlier, when I was in high school.
Linh, thank you. I have that essay in my permanent bookmarks. Ive admired your writing for years. you’re quite right about o’conner. I never much cared for her. as a theologian, she was no Dostoevsky.
I’ve always wondered about jewish animus against us. some congresswoman in NY filed a bill to remove our monuments from Battlefields; the speaker of the house of burgesses in VA removed a statue of General Lee from the Old Capitol building. she was born in NJ but “made aliyah” and is devoted to tikkun olam. I live in an antebellum home in Mississippi. a friend once said, I would come but you Southerners hate jews. i suppose that’s because of the leo frank business, but you’ll find a jewish cemetery in almost every city in the cotton states. Maybe they are trying to disguise their role in the slave trade? i don’t know.
brilliant as usual, Linh. Speaking as a descendant of Confederate soldiers, the U.S. prisons were worse by several orders of magnitude. the people of chicago would pay to watch our men die of starvation and disease at Camp Douglas. Point Lookout was an infamous hell hole. we could also discuss the campaigns of sherman and sheridan against civilians or grant’s pioneering use of germ warfare at vicksburg.
The losers are always demonized. Their POW camps are always worse. Their reasons for fighting are always self-serving. Their leaders are always immoral. Their troops are always barbaric and the winners well-behaved. The lies carry on and on.
Linh, bless your heart, we Southerners haven't lost our accents. Also, a point of clarification, we didn't 'lose' the Second American Revolution - it's been a rather lengthy 'holding action'. I expect things will heat up again before long. -Sam
You always get my mind movin Linh. I wore tigers when out in the bush - I got them on the river somewhere around Tan an on the Co tay sang near an old French rubber plantation . The ARVN friends I associated with in Saigon weren't so lucky after they surrendered - 8 years in the camps. I just had all my pants taken in by the local seamstress here - since I got sick and lost a few pounds. lol It's still a good trade here.

Some additional perspective on the Holohoax if anyone's interested.....

Hi Enoch,
Three years ago, I wrote about Flannery O'Connor trashing Southern whites for a Northern readership:

P.S. There's a quirky film called Sherman's March. Southerners probably find the title in very bad taste.

Amazing photographs in this one....especially the one of the woman in the pretty dress carrying a black hand bag...I wonder what's the story there?
Sorry you are not feeling well, Linh.
Hi Peggy,
I'm fine. The lady is a seller of lottery tickets who rides her bicycle around way before dawn. She speaks very softly and never quite smiles.
