A fired Nurse myself, the quoted image above can only be satirical, as the homelessness and drug addledness is ubiquitous in most cities and towns in Canada, and bound to get worse.
Here in Malaysia, I talk with locals and though, like everywhere there is corruption and inevitable inflation, for the most part they say they can get by.
I have yet to encounter any homeless. Of course Asian family life is tight-knit, but none the less, I feel the Western nations are dissolving into a morass of decultured pure insanity!

For a few moments I honestly thought Linh was quoting a detractor - in fact, after the first sentence of the second paragraph, I had no doubt he was quoting. Just as I was wondering if Linh would name the person, I got to the fifth paragraph and understood - Linh himself wrote all of it. Plenty of homeless sleeping in shop doorways every night in Georgetown, Penang. Malaysian public social security pensions are not exactly munificent.
