Well, the Unz Review has been always full of "glowies", "hasbaras", Feds and crazy trolls in the comment section, but the problem has gotten much worse lately. That said, I like checking Anglin's swiftian stuff (a guilty pleasure, I suppose). Can't stand Sailer, Derbyshire and most of the others. Occasionally they have some good articles by random people. But it's becoming rarer.
In early 2006, during the brief period when I was on good terms with Ron Unz, he assured me in private email that (at least as far as he could see) there were no shills in the comment sections. I've wondered off and on how many of the white racists on the comment pages are genuine, or whether they are hasbara trolls pretending to be white racists. I honestly never came to a solid conclusion on that, but so many of them seem to have stepped off the pages of a comic book and one starts suspecting that the purpose is to discredit what bits of genuine dissident writing appear there. Generally speaking, UR is a classic limited hangout/controlled opposition operation.

Hi Linh, so today I tried to have a conversation about the Ukraine war with a Russian recently arrived in Vũng Tàu. Turns out he doesn't really support his own country, sees Russia in decline as we see the collective west in decline, says the economy there is performing badly and there is rampant inflation, and accuses me of watching too much Russian news and believing their propaganda. Now I admit that all countries engage in propaganda, but I was stunned that he believes that Ukraine is winning this conflict, and his belief is supported by the fact that Ukraine gets support from the west, and by the fact that he knows people in Russia and Ukraine and they assure him that Russia is bad, etc. He also doesn't care, saying he left Russia to avoid any chance of his having to serve in the military, and to focus on what is best for his wife and young son. Fair enough, we have that in common in that we both disparage our home countries and left. But I've been following the Ukraine story from a distance since 2014, aware of both sides of the narrative, and simply can't understand how anyone could give credence to the western narrative. Obviously war is not a good thing, but if it is inevitable it must be fought. Your writing helps us see through the narratives if we care enough to think about it.

My mom worked f Joliet School's food service so I was was really happy to see that one. You stayed at the casino and walked through downtown Joliet in the snow. You could have dissed the entire Midwest for that visit alone, but you wrote an empathetic portrait instead. I think an argument can be made that Ho Chi Minh was influenced by Confucius. That Chinese philosopher sought a Chinese King who would heed his advice, in order to make a harmonious and ethical society which would benefit all the subjects of the king. Well, the Unz Review has been always full of "glowies", "hasbaras", Feds and crazy trolls in the comment section, but the problem has gotten much worse lately. That said, I like checking Anglin's swiftian stuff (a guilty pleasure, I suppose). Can't stand Sailer, Derbyshire and most of the others. Occasionally they have some good articles by random people. But it's becoming rarer.
In early 2006, during the brief period when I was on good terms with Ron Unz, he assured me in private email that (at least as far as he could see) there were no shills in the comment sections. I've wondered off and on how many of the white racists on the comment pages are genuine, or whether they are hasbara trolls pretending to be white racists. I honestly never came to a solid conclusion on that, but so many of them seem to have stepped off the pages of a comic book and one starts suspecting that the purpose is to discredit what bits of genuine dissident writing appear there. Generally speaking, UR is a classic limited hangout/controlled opposition operation.

Hi Linh, so today I tried to have a conversation about the Ukraine war with a Russian recently arrived in Vũng Tàu. Turns out he doesn't really support his own country, sees Russia in decline as we see the collective west in decline, says the economy there is performing badly and there is rampant inflation, and accuses me of watching too much Russian news and believing their propaganda. Now I admit that all countries engage in propaganda, but I was stunned that he believes that Ukraine is winning this conflict, and his belief is supported by the fact that Ukraine gets support from the west, and by the fact that he knows people in Russia and Ukraine and they assure him that Russia is bad, etc. He also doesn't care, saying he left Russia to avoid any chance of his having to serve in the military, and to focus on what is best for his wife and young son. Fair enough, we have that in common in that we both disparage our home countries and left. But I've been following the Ukraine story from a distance since 2014, aware of both sides of the narrative, and simply can't understand how anyone could give credence to the western narrative. Obviously war is not a good thing, but if it is inevitable it must be fought. Your writing helps us see through the narratives if we care enough to think about it.

George Carlin's father was an advertising executive, and his mother was a secretary for an advertising exec. His full name was "George Denis Patrick Carlin". At age 10 his mother bought him a suite of recording equipment so he could practice his comedy routine (his household was one of the first to have television, in the early 40's). He expressed his desire to be an actor and was granted immediate entre into the industry by way of his parents connections. By age 20 he had his own radio show. These sorts of doors are only opened to the well connected and the family of the elite.

My mom worked f Joliet School's food service so I was was really happy to see that one. You stayed at the casino and walked through downtown Joliet in the snow. I think an argument can be made that Ho Chi Minh was influenced by Confucius. That Chinese philosopher sought a Chinese King who would heed his advice, in order to make a harmonious and ethical society which would benefit all the subjects of the king. In his Five Relationships, the responsibility and obligation flowed two ways, not simply young to old, for example. I have read somewhere that many Chinese reformers of the 19th and 20th centuries were partly inspired by the original writings of Confucius.

I for once think that the problem is not just the J stuff but Americans, too -- and I say this as someone who has lived in the US and has friends there, and admire some things from America. But the problem of Americans is that they think they live in "the best country in the world" because they drive a giant SUV and eat mammoth portions in restaurants and their Army "kicks ass". I was recently in Spain and I can tell you that, in terms of lifestyle, it's probably much better (for me, at least) than anywhere in America, even if you won't have a MacMansion or a fancy car.

A funny thing -- using one of these new Chat GPT bot, typing in the word "killer" or "murder"or similar to create a "story", will give you a warning that "this is unacceptable because this program was created for peace and tolerance and it cannot create stories that promote violence" (I paraphrase). Meanwhile, the US keeps sending all kinds of weapons to the Ukraine war, and has a new school shooting (real or fake, who knows) every week. But God forbid that anyone may think of writing a fictional story about a murder mystery... The ongoing slaughter in rump Ukrapland and the wet dream of "defending" Taiwan from its inevitable Chinese past and future is no more than the wet dreams of a jaded, has been stud whose limp dick can no longer quite match its loud mouth and its viagara freeloader fiat filth dollah can no longer pull even the ugliest whore on the block. USSA is going down the toilet and the rest of the planet will be glad to see it go. Will it destroy itself out of spite (and the rest of us) or will the little people finally clean out the sewer in the Washing town swamp if sanity should prevail when the transgender mutant retards and those that created them are finally rounded up and medicated.
