[Bengaluru, 11/28/22] Looking for a cafe to write this, I had to walk 1.5 mile before landing in Third Wave on Cunningham Road. Spoiled by Vietnam’s proliferation of cafes, I simply expected to find at least one every two blocks here. Yesterday, I had to settle for three tiny cups of chai, bought on the street, before finding a cafe.
I thought that most of the residual "visuals" from my acid and psilocybin eating days had subsided until I saw the shared image of Jesus and Mary. Far freakin out Linh! I do my best not to drink anymore, but you deserved one after taking that picture. Thank you for sharing it with us. Another appreciated window into somewhere other than here. Much thanks for not knowing where you're going, it makes for some great writing!
Interesting travelogue, thanks. I have never been to India, but I've been to some parts of London and Toronto which give you a taste of what it might be... See, now you don't need to travel to exotic locations, the exotic locations come to you. The bad thing about "multiculturalism" is exactly that it dampens the will to travel and to explore. Why go anywhere, if everywhere looks the same mishmash, with "diversity" everywhere and a MacDonalds in every corner?
Dear Linh, I love seeing another country through your eyes. I hope our little contributions can keep you buoyed up until you are restored to your rightful place as a fine writer. I remember the surprise of finding little pieces by you in the Unz review.
The Indian neighborhoods in my city look a lot like the scenes shown, I guess you can take an Indian out of India, but you can't take India out of the Indian.
The crippled man on the skateboard
Walks his one hand
In a red flip-flop and
Today I was disappointed with
My thin-lipped reflection in
The cellphone mirage.

After reading this, I just had to play "Within you Without you" from Sgt. Peppers

Beautiful. You were lucky to get kicked out of the West, Linh.

About that Jesus-Mary image, maybe it was the "transgender Jesus" that some people in the UK were talking about? https://www.foxnews.com/world/cambridge-dean-defends-sermon-jesus-trans-body-vaginal-side-wound-new-heresy-age
Wonderful essay. Can you post a link to your talk? Also, please comment on the kanye controversy.
