Hi everyone,

I'm going to add this to book version of article:

The defiantly Jewjabbed and boostered must keep their winning streak going by voting as many times as possible for Kamala. Savant Harris declared on 5/10/20, “Thank you, Diddy, for hosting this town hall last night. There’s a lot at stake for our communities right now and it’s critical we bring to the forefront how coronavirus is perpetuating racial inequality and health disparities.” Amassing so much pedophilic dirt on America’s elites, Diddy will be silenced if not Epsteined. Nigga thought he could outjew them.

Hi everyone,

I forgot to add that there are 14 Roadsters in Lebanon, a country of just 5.5 million, so it's not just a downtown Beirut oddity.

Do they love America or is it more just escapism?

It's similar to the Westerners wearing Japanese t-shirts or even tattooing Japanese symbols on themselves they don't understand.

I think people just want some kind of escape that doesn't exist now so it's ultimately a fantasy they are indulging in. And I'm sure many probably know this deep down but that does not kill the yearning.

When there is no hope for change in the world or in ones life people tend to retreat into fantasy as a solution.

I really miss Taiwanese Dao Temples. You can go down some random, drab ally and bammm. There is a little temple that would be a tourist bus stopper in other countries.

One of my favorites was a tiny one on the North coast between two parking lots. It was like a greatest hits of all the cool aspects of Dao temples: dramatic and colorful action scene with dragons on the roof, beautiful wood doors, tile wall murals depicting myths and graceful wood carvings.

In Taipei one of the most popular Dao Temples featured a famous love god where young women would go daily and buy God money to burn and pray for Mr. Right. They had to bring in a giant Mrs. Love God because the little God would make moves on the women attending the temple and give them headaches. In true Chinese fashion the Love God is also the God of landlords. No tribe loves investment property more than Chinese do.

They had a special tea you could drink at the love temple that would increase your sexual appeal. Alas, I am sad to report that good looking women on the subway were able to contain themselves and not touch me on my long ride home. Maybe I should have had more tea.

While Taiwan may not love America, they certainly don't seem to hate it. In all my many visits, I have never felt the least amount of hostility from anyone--Taiwanese seem like very friendly people. I sincerely hope that the US mucking around over there doesn't change that, but I sense that false hopes are being stirred up, and when those hopes are disappointed, hard feelings are bound to result.

There are periodic polls of Taiwanese about their preferred stance toward the mainland. Usually three choices are offered: Unification, independence, or "status quo". On the surface, there seems to be no good answer; Taiwanese seem to prefer formal independence, but most know that this would bring China down on them. On the other hand, voluntary unification is patently unacceptable to most.

So a significant number choose "status quo." I used to think this was an escapist attitude, but it might actually be the wisest choice. It reflects the recognition that in the fullness of time, things can change, and with no obvious solution to their dilemma, the best answer might just be to hope that if left alone, the two nations might somehow grow together enough that anything is possible.

I watched your video and the area you filmed in looks familiar, as well as one of the buildings in your photos. (That pink apartment building in particular looks very familiar.) Is that area pretty close to the Tamsui MRT station? Every time we stay in Taipei we have rented a place in Tamsui District, so I am quite familiar with the area. Leaving now, you just missed my wife by a few days--she'll be flying back there late next week for a few months' stay, renting in Tamsui again as usual. The person she has been talking to about a rental said there was a typhoon going through--looks like he wasn't kidding!

Safe travels!

Hi JustPlainBill,

I didn't walk far from the station. It was raining fairly hard and unseasonably cold. I couldn't have been in Tamsui more than three hours.

"Are you in a dream or in reality?"

Everyone needs to ask themselves that very question. Great catch, Linh.
